Abstract

The Philippine power, water, and energy environment includes firms with different operating models, capital requirements, and market exposures. This study comparatively examined the financial and stock-market characteristics of ten selected publicly listed companies: Alsons Consolidated Resources, Aboitiz Power, First Gen, First Philippine Holdings, Manila Electric Company, Manila Water, Petron, Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, SPC Power, and Vivant. A descriptive-comparative secondary-data design was employed using a COL Financial sector report and market information from Pesobility and Investagrams. The analysis integrated profitability, valuation, liquidity, leverage, dividend yields, historical stock returns, trading activity, and technical indicators. Most observations were dated September 11, 2026, while the ACR company analysis was principally dated September 15, 2026. Results showed substantial financial and market heterogeneity. MER and AP had the largest market scale, while SPC combined the highest company-level dividend yield with the strongest reported liquidity and lowest leverage. FPH and FGEN reported positive returns across the selected horizons. PCOR combined a low positive P/E ratio with high leverage and negative reported returns, whereas PNX exhibited negative earnings, weak liquidity, and elevated leverage. ACR recorded exceptionally strong appreciation alongside overbought momentum and high reported volatility. Technical conditions frequently diverged from financial fundamentals. The findings support integrated, source-specific comparison rather than a single ranking of company quality. Differences in platform calculations, observation dates, and business models limit comparability and preclude causal or predictive conclusions.
