Environmental management systems (EMS) have become increasingly important to manufacturing firms seeking to balance environmental responsibility with operational performance. This study examined Environmental Management System practices and operational efficiency among selected manufacturing companies in Biñan City, Laguna. Specifically, it assessed EMS practices in terms of structure, process, and continual improvement; evaluated operational efficiency in terms of resource utilization, process efficiency, and quality control; and determined the relationships between these dimensions. A descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational research design was employed. Data were collected from 200 manufacturing officers using an adapted and validated questionnaire. The instrument demonstrated excellent internal consistency, with Cronbach's alpha coefficients of .975 for EMS and .955 for operational efficiency. Descriptive statistics and Spearman's rank correlation were used for data analysis. Results showed that EMS practices were frequently implemented across all dimensions, while operational efficiency practices were likewise rated highly. Significant positive relationships were found between all EMS dimensions and operational efficiency indicators, with correlation coefficients ranging from rho = .692 to .860 (p < .001). The strongest relationship was observed between continual improvement and process efficiency. The findings indicate that more developed EMS practices are associated with stronger resource utilization, process efficiency, and quality control. The study underscores the managerial value of strengthening environmental monitoring, internal audits, technology adoption, employee participation, and continual improvement practices to support environmental sustainability and operational performance in manufacturing organizations.
